Finally! It is complete! A picture of my friends and I!
R to L: Ann, Me, Kathie, and Andre.
(Yeah, I'm the crazy looking one....I tend to photo bomb my own pictures LOL)
This is a Christmas gift to my friends as a lot happened and I wasn't able to buy what I wanted I really do hope they like it!
Most will probably think I "cheated" on this as I did draw a quick cartoony sketch over the photo and then used that photo just as reference afterwards. I'll post the process later, but I assure you that the sketch was only to get the positioning right. If that is cheating, then I am guilty
However, all of the coloring and the background and inking...everything was drawn by hand just referencing the photo. I didn't want it to be exact as I wanted us to look a bit realistic but cartoony as well. Thus I took a lot of artistic liberty with it.
This took me a few days to color and I think it's probably the best blended digital coloring I've done to date!
Hello again, my friend! I simply MUST apologize for the incredibly late response on this work, especially given how this was in part a gift for me, as well as Ann and Andre! I'm so so sorry girl!
But wow! Even seeing this initially, I remember thinking how incredible it was! It's nice seeing your take on rendering realistically, and I think you were able to capture each and every one of us in this image! I like the attention to detail, such as in my and Ann's flowing hair, or even the whiskers on Andre's face. I also like the eyes, which have both a realism to them as well as an almost animated feel to them, particularly yours and Ann's.
Bravo for keeping true to the angling of this image of us, and even the little touches, such as my door, the scroll upon it, and even the stiching in your shirt. The more I look at this piece, the more I'm able to find something new to discover. I also like the variations in the fleshtones, whether it's due to the lighting or because one figure has fairer or darker skin. Again, you did an amazing job, and I truly do thank you for the wonderful gift! I was certainly touched to receive it, my friend! Take care now! ^_^
